Our client is looking for a well experienced HSE Director (MEA) to be based in Dubai, UAE.
Our client is seeking a dedicated professional with a passion for Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), combined with a strong commitment to Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
The key responsibilities of the Health, Safety & Environment Director for the Middle East & Africa region will be to ensure a safe work environment, protecting our employees, visitors and the environment, and to ensure compliance to legislative, regulative and corporate HSE requirements through guiding the development, implementation and oversight of the organization’s Health & Safety programs. You will also be responsible for continuously reviewing the effectiveness of the existing HSE management systems. You will liaise closely with the MEA Management team and the local country management teams across the region.
Responsibilities:
Develop policies and procedures to cultivate a strong culture of safety and ensure regulatory compliance
Drive continuous improvement of HSE programs to mitigate risk, prevent injuries, and protect people, property, and the environment.
Provide HSE expertise and take ownership for implementing tools, standards, and proven methods.
Harmonize and standardize MEA processes and initiatives, promoting collaboration within the HSE community and implementing proven techniques.
Ensure ISO (International Organization for Standardization) Certification through timely audits and effective closure of corrective actions.
Collaborate with leadership to embed HSE accountability and cultivate a positive safety culture.
Ensure all new projects within the organization have acquired all required authorizations and permits.
Provide continuous leadership in reducing the operating cost related to HSE for the facilities through energy conservation, waste minimization and injury prevention.
Track, analyze and communicate HSE performance through a combination of leading and lagging indicators.
Serve as the MEA system administrator for all HSE tools such as Velocity and Environment Health Safety (ENHESA) regulatory compliance and risk management audit tools; understand, assimilate, and mentor key users.
Own the development of HSE plans, establish objectives, and monitor progress using important metrics to ensure compliance and improve performance.
Conduct inspections and audits and ensure timely communication of findings and corrective actions.
Lead sustainability initiatives, drive emission reduction strategies, and foster green teams to achieve NetZero targets.
Promote CSR initiatives, build partnerships, and implement impactful programs across MEA while mentoring team members to support charitable efforts.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree or equivalent in Engineering / Safety Science / Occupational Health or related technical field.
8+ years’ experience in HSE role.
Practical knowledge of HSE regulatory compliance and industry trends.
Lead Auditor in ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 (or previous 18001).
Professional certifications: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
Experience in using technology, devices, training techniques related to HSE
Ability to influence and challenge current practices through process knowledge and personal relationships
